15 Minutes with Pascale Gomes-McNabb

This edition’s “15 minutes with” ran just a little longer than usual, well, into a few hours actually. Our Tyler Elliott sat down with highly regarded Architect turned Interior Designer Pascale Gomes-McNabb, and was also joined for lunch by friends and industry luminaries Ryan Russell and Byron George of Russell and George.

As they say, “What happens at lunch stays at lunch”, but needless to say a lively conversation was enjoyed by all.

Pascale has worked on a wealth of beautiful projects, notably interiors for the iconic Stokehouse Restaurant, Cumulus Inc, Cutler and Co. and was the recipient of the 2014 Australian Interior Design Award for her Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant – the extensive list of awards can be found below!

Thanks Pascale (and Ryan and Byron) for the catch up!

We had a few questions for Pascale, and we thank her for her time and insights.

1. So Pascale… Why Architecture?

7. Project you wished you’d worked on?

“Any by Le Corbusier”

8. Biggest change in Architecture over your career?

“I am an interior designer…  however design has become more accessible as never before and is seen as an important factor in the way we all live.”

9. A sentence to sum up your view of ESD…

“Essential.”

10. Best advice you have ever received?

“Work hard and look at everything with new fresh love/ eyes/ attitude”

11. Advice you would give to young Architects?

“See the last point”

12. How do you unwind?

Read, walk, cook, travel, revel with friends/ family/ lovers

“It’s diversity and stimulating nature.”

14. What do you the think the market will do in the next 12 months?

“Who knows?”
