Positions Available:

Senior CAD Draftsperson

Reporting to the Design Manager, The Senior Draftsperson will be responsible for leading medium and large projects on a national level, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and to budget whilst achieving project objectives. This role will involve close collaboration with a variety of stakeholders- Project site technicians, construction managers, yard managers, clients, supplies and admin staff.

The successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role overseeing their drafting team. A pivotal role in the company and part of the Senior Leadership team, you would help to shape the continued growth and success of the Design Department.

The role will involve undertaking complex projects where you will be required to study project requirements, liaising with engineers, clients and architects to obtain spec in order to produce AutoCAD drawing to a high standard. You will work in collaboration with your team, liaising with the design manager to discuss complexities and to review drawing. Alongside the Design Manager you will ensure targets are met, critical paths are followed and and procedures and processes are adhered to. You will also manage the procurement process, determining materials, stock, lead times, obtain quotes and raise purchase orders.

The role will involve thought leadership and will contribute towards the efficiencies and innovation. You will contribute in carrying out project autopsies to understand errors/failures in projects and assist in process and product improvement.

Key Skills:

  • The successful candidate will possess: A minimum of 5/10 years? experience in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of structural/civil construction. (would be an advantageous).
  • Prior experience successfully leading a team or mentoring/training staff.
  • Excellent ability using AutoCAD software.
  • Experience conducting site visits or working on construction sites.

You will also have:

  • The ability to handle multiple projects and manage time effectively.
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
  • An ability to work autonomously and independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good decision making skills.

CAD Draftsperson

Reporting to the Senior Draftsperson, the successful candidate will be required to produce AutoCAD layouts, pre-assembly and assembly drawings on a variety of projects. Projects of which the System is implemented in, include commercial high rise buildings, residential high rise buildings, hospitals and prisons amongst others.

This is a varied and challenging role where you will be required to liaise with engineers, clients and Architect to obtain specifications and gain all the information required to start drawings. You will discuss and work through complexities of a project with the Senior Draftsperson, produce Kit Lists and prepare tenders and schedules as required. You will be required to check your drawings before issuing to the Senior Draftsperson ensuring minimal errors and to make sure drawing meet client's specifications and requirements. You will also support the design manager by ensuring all specifications are communicated as well as discussing innovative ideas and pro-actively suggesting improvements and how to implement.

You will also partake in project Autopsies to understand failures/errors and their effects and assist in any further process or product improvement.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Excellent skill using AutoCAD to produce documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • At least 3/5 years' experience in the construction industry.
  • A knowledge and experience in civil or structural engineering.
  • Experience conducting site visits or working on construction sites.

You will also:

  • Be a strong and effective communicator.
  • Work well as part of a team but autonomously.
  • Have effective time management skills.
  • Be a good multi-tasker.

The salary for this role depending on skills and experience will be between $55K - $80K + super.
